mickalig: Thirteen years ago today, Matthew Shepard died from severe head injuries in Poudre Valley Hospital, Wyoming. A few days before, he had been brutally beaten, tortured, tied to a fence and abandoned there by two men simply for being gay. He was only 21 years old. We can never forget this tragedy; especially today with all the talk about anti-gay bullying there has been lately. Our fight against intolerance, hate and discrimination and for justice and equality is still raging. I admire Matthew’s parents, Dennis and Judy for their involvement in this fight, for their bravery and for their perseverance. My heart goes out to them and all of Matthew’s close ones on this terrible anniversary. Rest In Piece, Matthew. <3
